Report: Vikings' Zimmer cleared to fly after numerous eye surgeries

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has been cleared to fly again and will return to Minnesota for training camp next week, a source told Brian Murphy of the Pioneer Press.

Zimmer has undergone eight surgeries since November to repair a torn retina in his right eye, and he'll likely need to wear glasses upon returning to the field.

If Zimmer wasn't cleared to resume air travel, he said he'd attend training camp by driving from one of his homes in Kentucky.

The 61-year-old missed a Dec. 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys due to one of the surgeries.
